About Us—Meet the Team

Meet the team behind Humanity Inspired. We aspire to put good out into the world. There is so much that can discourage us these days, but we’re choosing to find reasons to be Humanity Inspired (HI). Let’s manifest the good and be HI together!

Meet team member—EmJ

EmJ is a senior project manager at a technical agency and a professional photographer. She has a deep yearning for education and trying new things. Described as an adrenaline junkie and if she decides to try something, she’ll figure out a way to make it happen. EmJ loves people and is about as extroverted as an extrovert can be. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in Music from Utah State University and a Master of Strategic Communication from Westminster College. She loves to think about things from the big picture and find a way to make it a reality. Keith has called her an adaptation and optimization ninja. She is passionate, endlessly optimistic, intelligent, and takes a great deal of pride in empowering everyone around her. EmJ loves manifesting good around her.

Meet team member—Keith

Meet team member Keith Sorensen.

Keith is a high school band director and a semi-pro musician. He is an avid Utah Jazz fan—even when the team has terrible seasons. Keith loves space and deep ocean exploration, all things James Webb Telescope, and learning. He is extremely passionate, intelligent, charismatic, and fun; and loves his students and helping them find that a-ha moment. Keith received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Utah State University and his Master of Music in Music Technology from Southern Utah University. He loves being in the outdoors, reading, and connecting with people especially through the arts. Keith and EmJ have two fabulous children who (sometimes not so willingly) go on adventures with them.

Inspired Together

Keith and I met while attending Utah State University and married in 2005. We love traveling and learning new things about people and places. While attending USU, we started rock climbing, mostly sport. We found that Logan Canyon held the key to a lot of life’s mysteries. The hiking, climbing, caving, camping, snowshoeing, and various other fantastic outdoor activities helped us to gain a lot of clarity while we faced the challenges of getting an education and adulting. Our biggest adventure came in the form of parenting.

Our biggest inspiration

Team members Keith and EmJ Sorensen with their family.

Family is every bit a part of our efforts in Humanity Inspired. Our two children are the light of our life. Parenting them is the greatest challenge, but the BIGGEST BLESSING we have ever faced. They teach us so much about ourselves and what really matters. Our family enjoys playing music and our various instruments, having adventures, climbing, hiking, traveling, going to museums, playing games and watching movies together, but most of all just being together. Often you can find us watching Kurzgesagt, our favorite YouTube channel, and nerding out about something new we’ve just learned. As a family, we have come to learn the importance of being humanity inspired and look for ways to manifest good.
